Callousness

It's the callousness that still surprises me, the easy way we're able to dismiss the loss of life when someone holds a different political opinion. When someone has a different life experience, they are marginalized, placed in an out-group, and their deaths just get dismissed. We pretend that they aren't really people, that somehow because they don't agree with our perspective we're able to suddenly forget their humanity.
